Allegheny Reproductive invites men to participate as much as the woman and he feel comfortable with. We offer counseling, either together or individually, as well as brochures for men who accompany a woman for her appointment. In addition, men are welcome to go into the actual abortion procedure as a support person at the request of the woman. ARHC recognizes that a partner may have his own needs and concerns during the decision making process and/or after during post abortion recovery. We always have men in our waiting room whether they come as a support person or for their own reproductive health care. The FWHC allows men and/or partners to accompany the woman for the ultrasound and if the woman wishes, men and/or partners can be included in most of the counseling. We will also answer general questions on the phone for men/partners calling on behalf of women or making the appointment for her and offer brochures for men who accompany women for an abortion. We are in a collaboration with National Men Against Sexism to create a brochure to have available in the waiting room and other appropriate places that speaks to men's needs and feelings.

Our waiting room always has men in it. Men come to the Emma Goldman Clinic to receive reproductive health care and can be part of a positive and supportive health care experience for our abortion clients. At the women's request, men can be involved with part of the pre-abortion advocacy session and be in the procedure room as a support person for their friend, intimate partner, or family member. We provide training and discussion about the role of being a support person.
The Emma Goldman Clinic web site has a feature called "Ask Emma" where anyone can ask questions and get answers on-line. Our staff is available for questions from men about abortion.

At Medical Options, we allow men to participate in any aspect of patient care, as long as the patient wants this and gives her consent. This includes being present in the procedure room for the abortion, but the partner must receive counseling beforehand.
